BIOGRAPHY
This Is Lorelei is the solo project of Nate Amos, born January 8, 1991, in St. Johnsbury, Vermont. Amos began releasing music under the name around 2013 after moving to Chicago, where he also released as Opposites, engineered and mastered albums for others, and ran the DIY label Grandpa Bay. He is the son of a bluegrass musician.
Amos is also the guitarist and producer of indie pop duo Water From Your Eyes, formed in 2015 with Rachel Brown, and he later relocated to New York City. His This Is Lorelei work has ranged across electronic pop, bedroom folk, industrial music, and lo-fi indie rock, culminating in 2024's Box for Buddy, Box for Star, his first release on a proper label.

Box for Buddy, Box for Star turned This Is Lorelei into one of indie rock's breakout stories, earning year-end recognition from Pitchfork, Rolling Stone, Billboard, and GQ, plus a New York Times profile dubbing Amos an 'indie-rock phenomenon.' Critics heard everything from Postal Service-style electro-pop to classic country in its blend of indie rock and Americana, and the songs were striking enough to inspire covers from MJ Lenderman and Waxahatchee. Amos followed it with re-recorded material on Holo Boy and a new release, The Singer In My Band, featuring collaborations with Hayley Williams, Waxahatchee, MJ Lenderman, Jeff Tweedy, Snail Mail, SASAMI, and Momma—a remarkable list of peers vouching for his songwriting.
