BIOGRAPHY
Man/Woman/Chainsaw is an English rock band from London, formed in 2019 by childhood friends Billy Ward and Vera Leppänen, who began making music together at age 14. The current lineup, solidified in 2023, adds Emmie-Mae Avery, Clio Starwood and Lola Cherry, blending vocals, guitar, bass, keys/synths and violin.
The band built momentum through singles like "Any Given Sunday" and "What Lucy Found There" before their 2024 debut EP Eazy Peazy, produced by Daniel Fox of Gilla Band, drew notice from NME, The Guardian and others. After signing to Fiction Records, they released the single "Only Girl" and their debut album Cannonball in 2026.

Man/Woman/Chainsaw fuse art rock and post-punk with an unusual instrumental palette, orchestral violin, synths and grungy guitar, swinging between aggression and tenderness. Their rise from teenage collaborators to a fully formed five-piece culminated in a Fat Possum-released EP produced by Gilla Band's Daniel Fox, a spot on NME's 100 Essential Emerging Artists list, and a jump to Fiction Records for their debut album Cannonball, which has drawn strong reviews since its August 2026 release.
