Alan Daniel Maman, known as The Alchemist, is an American producer, DJ and rapper born October 25, 1977. Though he's tied to gritty New York rap aesthetics, he actually grew up in Beverly Hills, cutting his teeth as a teen rapper in the duo The Whooliganz alongside Scott Caan before mentoring under DJ Muggs of Cypress Hill.
His production of Mobb Deep's 1999 single "The Realest" helped define his sound and reputation. He released his solo debut 1st Infantry in 2004, followed by projects like Russian Roulette, the Rapper's Best Friend series, and The Food Villain, alongside a deep catalog of collaborations with artists including Freddie Gibbs, Curren$y, Earl Sweatshirt, and Griselda.
