BIOGRAPHY
Nigel Timothy Godrich was born on 28 February 1971 in Westminster, London, the son of a BBC sound supervisor. Educated at William Ellis School, he began playing guitar inspired by Jimi Hendrix and Frank Zappa before working as house engineer at RAK Studios under producer John Leckie, where he first worked with Radiohead on The Bends (1995).
He went on to produce OK Computer (1997) and has since collaborated with Travis, Beck, Air, Paul McCartney, U2, R.E.M., Pavement, Roger Waters, Arcade Fire and Idles. He won the Grammy for Best Engineered Album for Hail to the Thief and has been nominated for Producer of the Year four times. He also plays in Atoms for Peace and Ultraísta, scored Scott Pilgrim vs. the World with Beck, created the live web-series From the Basement, and received an honorary fellowship from Goldsmiths in 2020.
