BIOGRAPHY
Johnny Britt is a singer, trumpeter, songwriter and producer who built his career as musical director for The Temptations and as co-producer of their Emmy-winning miniseries. He trained at the Conservatoire de Versailles and earned a National Endowment for the Arts scholarship to study with Richard Williams, later graduating from Governors State University with the Gerald Myrow Award for Outstanding Composer. His trumpet has been featured on screen in La La Land, Hidden Figures and Dunkirk. Britt's tribute album Marvin Meets Miles pairs his own vocals with Harmon-muted trumpet lines across nine songs from the Marvin Gaye catalog, an homage SoulTracks called conceptually effective and musically accomplished. He has also charted multiple number one Billboard Contemporary Jazz singles, including his composition "Contact," a hit for Boney James.
