BIOGRAPHY
Oracle Sisters is a Paris-based indie rock, indie folk, and indie pop band formed in 2017. The group is made up of multi-instrumentalists Lewis Lazar (Denmark), Chris Willatt (Northern Ireland), and Julia Johansen (Finland). Lazar and Willatt met at school in Brussels as teenagers, later reconnecting after time in New York and Scotland respectively, before meeting Johansen in 2017. Their name was inspired by gang naming in the film The Warriors.
The band released two acclaimed EPs, Paris I and Paris II, in 2020 and 2021, which have streamed over 25 million times. Their debut album, Hydranism, recorded on a remote island during the pandemic, arrived in early 2023, followed by sold-out European and US tour dates.
WHY THEY'RE COOL
Oracle Sisters built a distinct identity from the outset: three musicians from three different countries converging in Paris, naming themselves after a phrase lifted from The Warriors. NME named them an Essential New Artist for 2019, and their Paris I and Paris II EPs earned strong reviews, including a 4/5 from NME calling them 'a dreamy indie-folk collection for blissful days,' alongside praise from V Magazine for their 'melodic mastery.' Their 2023 debut album Hydranism, born from a remote pandemic-era recording session, led to sold-out shows across Paris, Amsterdam, London, and Glasgow, plus a 21-date US tour.
