BIOGRAPHY
Teenage Fanclub formed in Bellshill, Scotland in 1989 after Norman Blake and Raymond McGinley's previous band, the Boy Hairdressers, split. Along with Gerard Love, the three shared songwriting duties across a career built on classicist power pop and folk-rock. Their 1990 debut, A Catholic Education, drew praise from Rolling Stone, while 1991's The King divided critics with its rougher edge.
The band's major-label debut Bandwagonesque broke them through, topping Billboard's Heatseekers chart and producing hits like "The Concept." Grand Prix and Songs from Northern Britain (which reached UK number three) cemented their reputation, and later albums like Man-Made, Here, and Endless Arcade have carried the group through Gerry Love's 2018 departure into a new chapter.
