BIOGRAPHY

Formed in Austin, Texas in 1981 by Mike Buck, Don Leady, Steve Doerr, and Alex Napier, The LeRoi Brothers built a raucous sound steeped in blues, rockabilly, R&B, country, soul, zydeco, and garage rock. Their debut EP, Moon Twist, appeared that same year on Amazing Records, followed in 1983 by the full-length Check This Action for Jungle Records, featuring Fabulous Thunderbirds bassist Keith Ferguson and earning praise from Rank and File, the Blasters, and X. The band's 1986 album Open All Night reached number 181 on the Billboard 200 the following year, marking their closest brush with national recognition. They kept releasing records through Viva LeRoi (1989), Rhythm & Booze (1990), and Kings of the Catnap (2000), remaining a fixture of the Austin scene before their induction into the city's Music Hall of Fame in 2014.

Their debut, Check This Action, became an underground hit prized for its nervy attack, drawing admiration from peers like the Blasters and X, while decades of steady output and a 2014 induction into the Austin Music Hall of Fame cemented their status as one of the city's most enduring bar bands.
