BIOGRAPHY
Sam Burton is a Palestinian-American songwriter born and raised in Salt Lake City, now based in Los Angeles. He taught himself guitar as a teenager, secretly practicing on his stepfather's off-limits instrument, and drew early inspiration from the Beach Boys and the Velvet Underground while playing in a shoegaze band before shifting toward a more acoustic, folk-based sound layered with ambient, psychedelic textures.
Through the latter half of the 2010s his melancholy home recordings built a following in the DIY cassette scene, leading to a deal with Tompkins Square, which released his 2020 full-length I Can Go with You. He has also fronted the Salt Lake City dream-pop band The Circulars and co-founded the retro folk-rock project Sylvie with Ben Schwab and Marina Allen. His most recent album, Dear Departed (2023), arrived on Partisan Records and was produced by Jonathan Wilson.
