BIOGRAPHY
Deerhunter formed in Atlanta, Georgia, in 2001, led by vocalist-guitarist Bradford Cox and drummer Moses Archuleta. The band has described its sound as 'ambient punk,' though its music ranges across noise, garage rock, art rock, and pop. Early on, bassist Justin Bosworth died in a 2004 skateboarding accident; Josh Fauver stepped into the role for the group's debut album, Turn It Up Faggot (2005). Lockett Pundt soon joined as a second guitarist and songwriting partner.
Recorded in just two days, Cryptograms (2007) mixed ambient passages with angular garage rock. The band went on to release Microcastle and Weird Era Cont. in 2008, followed by Halcyon Digest (2010), produced by Ben Allen, which reached number 37 on the Billboard 200 and drew widespread critical acclaim. Lineup changes preceded 2013's raw Monomania, and the band's eighth album, Why Hasn't Everything Already Disappeared? (2019), featured collaborations with Cate LeBon.
