BIOGRAPHY
Hatchie is the recording name of Harriette Pilbeam, an Australian singer-songwriter born 4 May 1993 in Brisbane. Raised in a musical family, she learned guitar and bass as a teenager before adding piano and clarinet, and she began performing solo under her family nickname Hatchie with the 2017 single "Try," uploaded to Triple J and later followed by "Sure," which was remixed by Cocteau Twins guitarist Robin Guthrie.
Her catalogue runs from the Sugar & Spice EP (2018) through the albums Keepsake (2019), Giving the World Away (2022), and Liquorice (2025), the latter deepening her dream pop leanings with what critics call nostalgic heartache.

Stereogum described her work as a cosmic concoction of dream pop and shoegaze, and the comparison holds: Hatchie's records draw lines from Cocteau Twins and Mazzy Star through the Sundays and the Cranberries while staying melodically direct. Keepsake reached number 25 on the Australian charts and picked up a J Award nomination for Australian Album of the Year plus an AIR Award nod for Breakthrough Independent Artist, and by Giving the World Away she was folding dance textures into that shimmering foundation.
