Bristol duo Getdown Services turn childhood friendship into a lockdown-born, disco-glazed slice of British indie dance.

BIOGRAPHY
Getdown Services began during the 2020 lockdown, when childhood friends Ben Sadler and Josh Law, who met at school in Minehead, Somerset, started trading musical ideas remotely before settling in Bristol to make music together. They had played in bands before but built this project from scratch, folding in glam, disco, and classic rock into a distinctly British strain of indie dance often described as dance-punk revival, alternative dance, and mutant disco.
The pair debuted with the single "Bad Weather" in 2021, followed by the self-released "Biscuit Tin" in 2022 (with proceeds supporting Bristol's ACORN renters' union) and "Cream of the Crop" in 2023. That year they signed to Bristol label Breakfast Records and released their debut album, Crisps, later adding the EPs Your Medal's in the Post (2024) and Primordial Slot Machine (2025).
WHY THEY'RE COOL
Getdown Services have built momentum the old-fashioned way: touring support slots with Fat Dog, Donny Benét, and Antony Szmierek, then selling out their own UK headline run in autumn 2024. Heavy BBC 6Music backing from Craig Charles, Huw Stephens, and Cerys Matthews has followed them to festival stages including Glastonbury, Iceland Airwaves, and Plisskën. DIY named them part of its Class of 2025, and they picked up a Rolling Stone UK Play Next nomination alongside artists like Jacob Alon and Rianne Downey, evidence of a rising cult reputation built on a genuinely British, genre-blending sound.
