BIOGRAPHY
Westside Cowboy are an English rock band formed in Manchester in 2023, made up of Jimmy Bradbury, Reuben Haycocks, Aoife Anson O'Connell and Paddy Murphy, who met while studying at the Royal Northern College of Music. Bradbury and Haycocks had each played in earlier local groups before joining O'Connell and Murphy under a name inspired by the horseback riders who once slowed New York's early trains.
Their 2024 debut single caught the ear of Black Country, New Road drummer Charlie Wayne, leading to a European support tour with the band. Since then Westside Cowboy have released two EPs, won Glastonbury's Emerging Talent Competition, supported Geese across Europe, and issued their debut album, It Goes On, via Island Records in 2026, all under their self-coined genre banner, Britainicana.
WHY THEY'RE COOL
Westside Cowboy's self-styled 'Britainicana' sound, hazy American country and rock colliding with British punk and indie, has won them early co-signs and festival wins alike. Before they'd even released a recorded track, Black Country, New Road's Charlie Wayne tweeted their debut was his 'favourite of 2024,' a moment that led directly to touring together. Since then the band have built a steady run of releases, from their debut EP This Better Be Something Great through So Much Country 'Till We Get There to their full-length album It Goes On, refining a sound where folk harmony and country phrasing jostle against slacker guitars and punk velocity.
