BIOGRAPHY
Shantanu Mukherjee, known professionally as Shaan, is an Indian playback singer, composer, actor and television host born on 30 September 1972 in Bandra, Mumbai. He comes from a musical family: his grandfather was lyricist Jahar Mukherjee and his father was music director Manas Mukherjee. Shaan sings primarily in Hindi, Bengali, Kannada and Telugu.
His career began in 1989 at age 17 with a line in the song 'Kitni Hai Pyari Pyari Dosti Hamari' for the film Parinda. He went on to win the MTV Asia Music Award for Best Solo Album for Tanha Dil in 2002, later hosting the popular talent show Sa Re Ga Ma Pa on Zee TV, which won Music Programme of the Year at the Indian Telly Awards in 2003.

Shaan is widely regarded as one of the most popular voices in Indian cinema, nicknamed the 'Golden Voice of India' and the 'Magician of Melody'. He holds two Filmfare Awards and three IIFA Awards, and six of his songs appear on the BBC's list of the Top 40 Bollywood Soundtracks of all time. India TV has ranked him among its Top 10 Bollywood Singers, cementing his standing as a defining voice of contemporary Hindi film music.
