BIOGRAPHY
Shannon and the Clams formed in Oakland, California, after singer-bassist Shannon Shaw and guitarist Cody Blanchard began playing together in 2007 while students at the California College of the Arts. The lineup grew to include keyboardist Will Sprott and drummer Nate Mahan, following earlier drummer Ian Amberson.
The band built a discography from the retro-leaning debut I Wanna Go Home through Sleep Talk and Dreams in the Rat House, eventually signing to Dan Auerbach's Easy Eye Sound label after he championed the band, producing 2018's Onion and the 2024 release The Moon Is in the Wrong Place, made in the wake of Shaw's fiance's death in 2022.

Shannon and the Clams fuse doo-wop, classic R&B, garage psych, and surf into a sound critics have likened to a 1964 prom band getting dosed with acid, or a John Waters fever dream of greasy 50s rock and hip-swinging 60s pop. That singular blend caught the ear of Dan Auerbach, who signed the band to Easy Eye Sound and produced their recent records, adding a polished but still raw edge to their vintage-soaked songwriting.
