BIOGRAPHY
H. Hawkline is the stage name of Huw Evans, a Welsh singer-songwriter based in Cardiff, born in 1985 and named after Richard Brautigan's novel The Hawkline Monster. Son of broadcaster Hywel Gwynfryn, he grew up between Cardiff and Prestatyn before spending years in Los Angeles, and he performs in both English and Welsh.
His catalog began with the independently released A Cup of Salt (2010) and The Strange Uses of Ox Gall (2011), followed by the Black Domino Box EP. Signing to Heavenly Recordings in 2014, he released In the Pink of Condition (2015, produced by Cate Le Bon), I Romanticize (2017), and Milk for Flowers (2023, again with Le Bon, featuring Tim Presley). He is also a frequent collaborator, playing guitar and bass with Cate Le Bon and Sweet Baboo, and contributing bass to Kevin Morby's Harlem River and Still Life.

Hawkline has spent over a decade refining a self-described 'strange pop' sound, moving from the post-punk-tinged guitars of his early records to the piano-led, emotionally direct songwriting of Milk for Flowers, written in the wake of his mother's death. Critics have called In the Pink of Condition 'the strongest statement of H. Hawkline's individual voice to date,' praising his laid-back songwriting and the way his off-kilter melodies sit against a tender singing voice. Beyond his own albums, he's a trusted collaborator, playing in Cate Le Bon and Sweet Baboo's bands and contributing bass to Kevin Morby's records, and he's toured supporting Devendra Banhart and Aldous Harding.
